In noapte de Revelion vom avea o fractiune de secunda in plus care va fi introdusa la ultimul minut din an. Asadar, ultima secunda din 2016 nu va fi la ora 23:59:59, ci la 23:59:60, inainte ca ceasurile sa aratate ora 24.00.00.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Secunda &#8220;extra&#8221; este introdusa in exact acelasi timp in toata lumea pe toate fusele orare. De exemplu, Londra, New York, Caracas si toata Emisfera vestica vor avea o secunda in plus in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Aceasta secunda este necesara pentru o sincronizare mai buna intre ora pe glob si rotatia planetei. Intrucat Terra are nevoie de o secunda in plus fata de anul 2008 pentru a efectua o rotatie completa, acea secunda suplimentara trebuie adaugata in dispozitivele de masurare a timpului.<\/p>\n<p>Ultima data, pe 30 iunie 2015, omenirea a primit o fractiune de secunda suplimentara.<\/p>\n<p>Tehnica a fost introdusa inca din 1972 la intervale regulate, o data la cativa ani. Acum e folosita pentru a 28-a oara.
