Primele exemplare din faimosul sedan al cehilor au ie\u015fit pe poarta fabricii din Mlad\u00e1 Boleslav \u00een ianuarie 1959.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Numele modelului provine din cuv\u00e2ntul latinesc octavia, care \u00eenseamn\u0103 al optulea, iar denumirea nu este \u00eent\u00e2mpl\u0103toare. Octavia a fost al optulea model lansat de constructorul ceh dup\u0103 cel de-Al Doilea R\u0103zboi Mondial, dar \u015fi al optulea model Skoda cu suspensie independent\u0103.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Primul model Octavia s-a v\u00e2ndut \u00een peste 360.000 de exemplare<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prima versiune avea o caroserie \u00een dou\u0103 u\u015fi, iar sub capot\u0103 avea un propulsor \u00een patru cilindri cu capacitatea de 1,1 litri, care producea 40 de cai putere. Transmisia \u00een patru trepte trimitea puterea c\u0103tre ro\u0163ile din spate. Viteza maxim\u0103 era 110 km\/or\u0103, iar consumul mediu de 7,7 litri\/100 km.
