Construc\u0163ia fabricii a avut la baz\u0103 un acord \u00eentre autorit\u0103\u0163ile rom\u00e2ne \u015fi produc\u0103torul francez de automobile, Renault, ce prevedea asamblarea unui model Renault sub marca Dacia. Construc\u0163ia uzinei s-a f\u0103cut \u00eentr-un timp record, respectiv un an \u015fi jum\u0103tate.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Motivul pentru care s-a semnat contractul cu Renault a fost reducerea timpului \u00eentre proiectare \u015fi lansarea \u00een produc\u0163ia de serie a unui autoturism. Autorit\u0103\u0163ile rom\u00e2ne au considerat necesar\u0103 producerea unui autoturism sub licen\u0163\u0103 ob\u0163inut\u0103 de la un produc\u0103tor str\u0103in.<\/p>\n<p>Se dorea o licen\u0163\u0103 pentru un autoturism din clasa medie cu o capacitate cilindric\u0103 cuprins\u0103 \u00eentre 1.000 \u015fi 1.300 cm3 \u015fi s\u0103 se produc\u0103 \u00eentre 40.000 \u015fi 50.000 automobile pe an.
